Mediating effects of negative automatic thoughts on the impact of childhood traumatic experience on maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation of juveniles in youth detention facilities

Abstract
This study aimed to examine the mediating effects of negative automatic thoughts on the impact of childhood traumatic experience on maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation of juveniles. The total of participants was 167 boys and girls who registered at two juvenile youth detention centers. The K-CTQ, MCERQ and K-CATS were used and data were analyzed with the SPSS 25.0 and Macro 2.15 program. Childhood traumatic experience showed statically significant effect on negative automatic thoughts, negative automatic thoughts demonstrated statically significant effect on maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation. The negative automatic thoughts fully mediated the relationship between childhood traumatic experience and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation. It demonstrated that childhood traumatic experience influence maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation through negative automatic thinking in juveniles in youth detention facilities.
